Meet Our Veterinarian...
Dr. James Brousse is the veterinarian and owner of The Cat & Dog Clinic. Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. Brousse earned a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Louisiana State University, followed by a Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Missouri. He moved to Athens, Georgia in 1991 to attend the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Brousse decided to make Athens home, for he and his son, Alex, and opened what is now, The Cat & Dog Clinic.
Dr. Brousse shares, “My goal is to get to know your pet on a one-on-one basis. I devote a good deal of time to each pet’s wellness exam, a thorough “nose to tail” check-up. This type of exam also gives us a chance to discuss your pet, it’s diet, lifestyle, and behavior at home, helping me develop a complete picture of your pet’s health. The benefit of this approach is diseases and healthcare problems can often be detected before they become difficult and expensive to treat. I love the environment at our clinic because it allows our team to partner with pet owners to take a proactive approach that can help them enjoy and maximize their pet’s length and quality of life.”
Our veterinarian also adds, "when a pet is ill or injured, seeing them regain their spirit and start interacting with their family again is extremely rewarding”. “I enjoy seeing that special bond between pets and their people. I especially appreciate the opportunity when I can help nurture that pet-owner bond by making sick pets well and keeping healthy pets well. Nothing can replace the satisfaction of witnessing the true joy on an owner’s face when they get to take their furry family member home – returned to health and active, again.”
Dr. Brousse is married to his wife, Carol, a long-time multi-pet owner, who loves working at The Cat & Dog Clinic, too. Currently, the Brousses’ have one dog, Buddy and two cats, Latte and Matilda.
